1. Export your orders from Shopify

In your Shopify admin, go to Orders.
Click Export, choose a date range (the last 6–12 months works best), and select CSV for Excel, Numbers, or other spreadsheet programs.

How to read this

To recent full-price buyers is the share of a code's discount that went to customers who had placed a full-price order in the previous period you chose. Those customers may have bought without the code. It is an estimate from order history, not proof of what a discount caused.
First-time buyers counts orders where the customer has no earlier order in your file. Customers who bought before your export's start date are counted as first-time, so a longer date range gives a more accurate result.
No customer email counts orders without an email address, such as some point-of-sale or draft orders. Guest checkouts online still include an email, so they're counted as first-time or returning buyers like everyone else.

Shopify's export only lists discount codes and manual discounts, not automatic discounts. Customers are matched by email address.

Questions about the checker

Is my orders file uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser reads the file on your own computer. It is never uploaded to SegmentIQ or stored anywhere.

Which discounts does it include?

Discount codes and manual discounts, because those are what Shopify's orders export lists. Automatic discounts aren't in the export, so they don't appear. The SegmentIQ app reads automatic discounts too.

What counts as a recent full-price buyer?

A customer who placed an order without a discount in the period before their discounted order. You choose that period: 90, 180 or 365 days. Customers are matched by email address.

Why do some returning customers show as first-time buyers?

The checker only sees orders in your file. A customer whose earlier orders are before your export's start date looks new, so export as much order history as you can.

Does a high full-price share mean the code was wasted?

Not necessarily. It shows who received the discount, not what the discount caused. Treat a high share as a reason to test a smaller offer, not as proof.
